The HIT Community Announces Advisory Board Members
Six Health Information Technology Leaders to Provide Counsel to The HIT Community
Wakefield, MA – October 7, 2011 – The HIT Community announced today that it has formed an advisory board to help guide the company as it continues to develop a community for Health Information Technology and to ensure we keep the focus on the users of HIT and EHR.
“The willingness of this distinguished group of national health information technology and community experts to come together to contribute their perspectives to the further development of our community as it benefits the users,” said Michael Levinger, founder and chief executive officer of The HIT Community. “There is clearly an important role that our community can play to accelerate the success of EHR by providing a variety of ways for gathering information.”
Joining the company’s advisory board are:
Michael Aldridge, Executive Director of the Kansas Healthcare Information Technology Regional Extension Center
Karen Bell, MD, Chair of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology, formerly the senior vice president of the Health Information Technology Services at Masspro, and the director Office of Health Information Technology Adoption and acting deputy, Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); ONC’s representative on CCHIT’s board of commissioners from 2006 to 2008.

Andy Freed., Executive VP Virtual, Inc. and the former CIO of Massachusetts Hospital Association
Joe Heyman, MD is a practicing physician and immediate past-chair of the Board of Trustees of American Medical Association (AMA)
Roger Holloway, Executive Director of the Illinois Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center
The advisory board members will provide ongoing input and feedback on the company’s communities.
